Montechoro Holidays

Head on upto Montechoro, a contemporary community around Albufeira, positioned to the east (around 3 kilometre) of Albufeira old town, and learn of some fairly nice all-inclusive hotel holiday options. A little more modern, and with apartments and hotels in abundance, the Montechoro region is a fashionable choice for holiday makers coming to Albufeira. The region is just over from Oura Beach (a ten minute walk - the walk is regularly branded 'The Strip'), and is packed with resort facilities with everything from holiday shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and fast food outlets.

Montechoro Park is a fantastic family holiday resort positioned in the inland part of Montechoro, and is brimming with entertainment especially for the kids. Although a appealing constructed park, Montechoro Park has a tropical ambiance with a large on site swimming pool, 18 holes mini golf course with broad sunbathing area, a bouncy castle and ample restaurants and theme bars around.

The 'Strip' walk (about 1.5 miles) down to Ouro beach from Montechoro is the major tourist centre in Albufeira, jam-packed as it is with restaurants and bars, serving an huge selection of food from pizza to Chinese and fast food. Restaurants and bars merge with holiday resort shops and bargain electricals. There's a busy and quite noisy holiday feel on 'The Strip', particularly in the peak holiday season from May to September. If you're after the holiday nightlife action the 'strip' is where to go, but be careful when choosing some of the bars and restaurants which look like they've seen better days. If a bar or restaurant is packed that's typically an sign it's a quality place!

Albufeira's key holiday centre around Montechoro, and The Strip of restaurants and bars will appeal to most including couples, groups, families, and do's like hen and stag parties. There's a specific inclination here though for families, couples, more laid back karoke style bar entertainment and plenty of good old football in the bars on usually large screen satellite TV. Although Albufeira definitely isn't a thumping club resort, it's a good option for hen and stag parties and stag and hen weekends.

Sports Bars, Bar Lounges and live music is everywhere around the Strip and Montechoro area - just wander around. And who says the Algarve doesn't do vegetarian? Check out the superb vegetarian restaurant just off Av.Dr. Francisco Sa Carneiro to the left of the big Hotel Da Aldeia. Another nightlife bar lined hotspot in Albufeira is Rua Dos Bares situated in Albufeira's old town. There's more of a club vibe on Rua Dos Bares - the preference here is for dance, R&B and Resident DJ's aplenty, as opposed to the karoke style bar intertainment on The Strip to the east of Albufeira. The Picadilly Bar along Rua Dos Bares serves up many a delightful cocktail.
